SanBaoWay training is based on the fundamentals of the ‘Three Treasures’ (Jing; Qi; Shen) – an oriental medical philosophy that emphasises the need to nurture and sustain our vital essence (Jing); our energy (Qi) while empowering and supporting our mental well-being (Shen). A unique combination of breath-focused movements; simple martial art techniques; stretch and extension exercises and the Shaolin QiGong Longevity form.
JING (精)
Jing is Qi (energy) in its ‘stored’ form of ‘essence’. Consider Jing as the wax and wick of a candle. It governs the inherent potentials and strength of our structural development and ability to handle stress, adversity, anxiety, illness and the many other challenges that we face in our lives. We can sustain and hold strong our ‘essence’ through specific meditative and QiGong practices.
QI (氣)
Qi is the energy that activates, moves and energises the various body structures and organs. It is the flame of the candle. All movements and transformations in our body occur through the activity and interaction of Qi. A balanced, healthy and strong flow of Qi can be nurtured and supported through breath work, mindfulness and Qigong exercises.
SHEN (神)
Shen – or ‘spirit’ can be considered the radiance that emanates from the flame of the candle. Shen relates to our mental, cognitive, creative and spiritual existence. There is a saying that ‘Shen shines through our eyes’ and we can ensure that radiance abounds through practices that support and sustain our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
SanBaoWay practice is NOT a martial art. I am no ‘Grand Master’ or ‘Guru’. What I offer through SanBaoWay, is a unique combination of proven practices, accessible techniques and skills that I have cultivated, consolidated and practiced over many years, that when combined with a mindful and present awareness, really do benefit the whole of our being: physical-mental-spiritual.
Rather than focusing on purely physical; ‘HIT; or hard-style training or a tendency to practice solely the restful; meditative; soft arts – I have developed SanBaoWay practice as a synergy of practice – a more ‘wholistic’ approach that draws from the most effective, accessible and proven aspects of all of the above.
After many years of practice; study and research – I have come to understand, that to best cultivate, promote and maintain our ‘whole being’- a combination of meditative practices, mindfulness; active Qi (energy) exercises, stretching and extension of the body and dynamic conditioning is needed to bring all round positive benefits to body; mind and spirit.
I invite you to join me on a journey where we never cease to learn – where beginner’s mind enables us the space to simply absorb and value – a journey that we can more easily than we think, integrate and fuse into our daily living.
